GFA Mk.II

To continue and advance our work with novel aerostructures, the University of Manchester will build one GFA-class aircraft every year. Design of the second aircraft has been completed and the airframe is due to be built in December 2022. Register for our build day to get involved!

The future

The second iteration of the GFA-class aircraft features some significant advancements in design engineering as well as some new novel features.

The biggest changes in the configuration include a 'pusher' propulsion system, structural cockpit with integrated canopy and a removable tail boom. Making these advancements without increasing the all-up weight was made possible by an innovative semi-monocoque fuselage design.
